Employers & Agencies
The Career Services Office at New Mexico Highlands University looks forward to assisting employers with their staffing needs. In your search for exceptional new hires, you will find NMHU candidates have both a strong academic background and practical preparation for the professional world. Highlands graduates approximately 500 candidates annually in disciplines including business, physical and life sciences, math and computer science, behavioral sciences, media arts, health and exercise sciences, education, social work, and the liberal arts. Many of our students have strengthened their coursework by completing internships and co-op's in their chosen field.
Career Services has cooperative education & internship programs that links employers who wish to recruit university students for experience based learning. These programs give students work experience relevant to their academic majors and the opportunity to "test drive" their career interests before graduation. These programs offer employers early access to train top candidates for possible full time positions.
Job fairs continue to be an effective means for linking graduating college students with potential employers. For companies, it is a tremendous opportunity to meet the talent that is soon to be available to them. For students, it is a great way to learn of new opportunities, and to network. When it comes to building a career, looking for a job or building a business, ultimately the issue of "networking" comes up. The NMHU Career Services Office sponsors a career expo and the Educators Job Fair each year to give students the opportunity to network and interact with employers.
