If you are having problems locating information below are some FAQ to help you find answers to some of the more common questions. If these don't help, please feel free to contact us.

How do I get a transcript?

Request in person at the Registrar’s Office.

Request by mail:

  • Send request to NMHU Registrar’s, Box 9000, Las Vegas, NM 87701
  • Send information (First and Last name-including any other name you may have used, your current address, date of birth, Banner ID # (or Social Security #), number of copies needed, address of where you want them sent to, and the first year you attended NMHU).  The document you send to us MUST have your signature on it in order for us to have your permission to release your transcript.

Request by fax:

  • Send request to (505) 454-3552.
  • Send information (First and Last name-including any other name you may have used, your current address, date of birth, Banner ID # (or Social Security #), number of copies needed, address of where you want them sent to, and the first year you attended NMHU).  The document you send to us MUST have your signature on it in order for us to have your permission to release your transcript.

Request by E-mail:

  • Requests made by e-mail are not accepted unless you write out your information (First and Last name-including any other name you may have used, your current address, date of birth, Banner ID # (or Social Security #), number of copies needed, address of where you want them sent to, and the first year you attended NMHU).  The document you send to us MUST have your signature on it in order for us to have your permission to release your transcript.  Then you can scan the document and e-mail it.  This is the only way a request made via e-mail will be honored.
  • The e-mail address to send transcript requests is transcripts@nmhu.edu

Request online (Only for people who attended NMHU after 1990) Visit My NMHU and Enter Secure Area. Log into Banner. Click on Student and Financial Aid then on Student Records.  Select Request Printed Transcript then enter your information and select Continue.

Fees:

  • Transcripts are $2.00 per copy. 
  • You can send a check or money order to the address listed above (be sure to write your ID # so the payment can be credited to your account). 
  • You can also pay by credit card or debit card by calling the Business Office at (505) 454-3240. 
  • If you would like your transcript faxed somewhere, there is a $10.00 charge that must be paid before transcripts can be sent.

What courses are being offered?

To Find Courses That Are Being Offered:

See the Summary Class Schedule Online: http://banweb.nmhu.edu 

Select Term and click on Submit.

Select a Subject from the list (and enter other information you may have-this will narrow down your search). Click on Class Search.

Get a paper copy of the schedule at the Registrar’s Office.

What courses are being offered at the sites?

To Search for Courses by Campus Location:

  • See the Summary Class Schedule Online: http://banweb.nmhu.edu 
    • Select Term and click on Submit.
    • Select a Subject from the list and under Campus select a campus location. Click on Class Search.
  • Get a paper copy of the Schedule at the Registrar’s Office. Flip to the appropriate section (Sorted by campus location).

Are online courses being offered?

To Find Online Courses:

  • See the Summary Class Schedule Online:  http://banweb.nmhu.edu 
    • Select Term and click on Submit.
    • Select a Subject from the list and under Campus select a campus location. Under Instructional Method select Web Based Instruction. Click on Class Search.
  • Get a paper copy of the Schedule at the Registrar’s Office. Classroom location will indicate if the class is an online class.

Is X course being offered?

To Search for a Specific Class:

  • See the Summary Class Schedule Online: http://banweb.nmhu.edu 
    • Select Term and click on Submit.
    • Select the Subject from the list and enter the course number. Click on Class Search.
  • Get a paper copy of the Schedule at the Registrar’s Office. Classes are sorted by subject, then by level.

Where can I get Information about a major?

Where can I learn about campus life?

How does HU support needs of students with special needs or disabilities?

Services:

  • Disability Services coordinates academic accommodations with appropriate university departments and employees.
  • Advises faculty, staff, and management on disability issues, and advocates on issues of concern to students with disabilities.
  • Disability Services also advises students on academic, career, and transitional issues and provides referrals where appropriate.
    Adaptive Technology:
    • NMHU provides appropriate software that can help students with needs. We have software such as CCTV’s, hearing equipment, and speech-to-text and text-to-speech software, etc.

What programs or concerts are being offered?

I am an international student, can I attend NMHU?

  • For Information on Attending NMHU: Please send an e-mail to: international_ed@nmhu.edu and someone at the International Education Office will send an information packet to your e-mail.

I am having login problems. (This is a whole collection of issues about passwords, getting user name, etc.)

  • Find Username/Change Password: If you do not know your username or have forgotten your password, you can login to the ITS Self-Help Page. Please follow the instructions below.
  • Self-Help Page: Go to technical help pages . Choices are self-explanatory.
    • You will be able to Reset a Forgotten Password, Change your Password, or Look up your Username & Banner ID Number. If you reset your password, your date of birth, in the format MMDDYY, is set as your temporary password.
      Exit the Self-Help Page and return to the NMHU homepage to access your account. It is not possible to access your account from the Self-Help Page. You are required to change your password to at least six characters.
  • Problems Logging Into Accounts (Banner, WebCT/Blackboard, Library Resources, etc):
    • Have You Changed Your Password? You must change your password from your date of birth (temporary password) before you can log into Banner, WebCT/Blackboard, and Library resources. Your password will be your date of birth if you have never logged in to your account or if you have reset your password. See instructions above to learn how to change your password.

I need help with Blackboard.

Problems Logging In:

  • Have You Changed Your Password? You must change your password from your date of birth (temporary password) before you can log into WebCT/Blackboard. Your password will be your date of birth if you have never changed your password from your date of birth or if you have reset your password.
  • How to Change Your Password: Go to technical help pages.  Choices are self-explanatory.

Why does the system reject my new password?

Are you reusing one of your last 5 passwords? The system keeps track of used passwords.

How do I know if the university is closed for bad weather?  

  • Visit NMHU,www.nmhu.edu; the homepage will display any offical weather notifications.
  • Call 505 426-2297 or 1-866-231-2366
  • Consult KOAT-TV, KRQE-TV,or KOB-TV in the evening or early morning.
