STRATEGIC GOAL I:
STRATEGIC GOAL II:
STRATEGIC GOAL III:
THE MISSION:
The sustainability challenge – needs to be reflected in programs that address local social issues, environmental protection while promoting economic ___?¬¬¬__
Northern New Mexico is uniquely positioned to do this
I am not clear about the placement of the term “diverse”. It seems to me that it should describe our population not the university.
As innocuous as any mission statement. (A question: your pens prominently state they are made in China, was your mission statement.
Recommend removal of “Northern New Mexico”, this seems like we are trying to isolate ourselves. Recommend wording be “Upon our distinctive cultures” The universities culture.
Much better than the old one – Should HIS be mentioned?
I’m happy with this
What % of campus student body is international – yes we have distinctive Northern New Mexico cultures but there are many on campus. Maybe the multicultural learning environment covers it.
We achieve this through a university – wide commitment to advancing knowledge and to student success building upon our distinctive Northern New Mexico cultures, fostering a multicultural learning environment, and promoting community and individual well being.
Sounds good
Microsoft’s Mission Statement: “A computer in every home!” – (Brief) this statement is more than a mission statement….NMHU’s statement should be brief, addressing who, how, when. Adopt the current on then ask 10 people what the mission is and you get 10 different responses. So….What is our mission?
Technology? I disagree, NMHU is behind, while UNM and NMSU has state art of technology be careful how you apply it to NMHU because NMHU represents student and recuit when one’s not true the reputation is ruined.
Sustainability needs to be more defined. Such as economic and environmental sustainability. This is not in _____? ______ to economic development, except that the development needs to be focused more on sustainability.
Comments from the Old Town Commercial Club (OTCC)
Would it be possible to have the students soliciting ads for La Mecha to approach the retailers right at the beginning of the semester?
Would it be possible to have a glass display case in the library where the retailers could display a sample of their products?
They thought that the back to school get together that was held for LCC, UWC, & NMHU students last August was very successful and hoped that we planned to do it again this August.
Comments fromFrom the Foundation Board
It was suggested that the mission and vision statements be reversed so that the mission statement would be short enough for people to remember.
We should include a reference to student literacy in mathematics.
The Plan should be written in more concrete language.
We should make sure that the action steps are quantifiable.
