Focusing Recruitment, Retention and Research Experiences (FRRRE Project)
Objectives

Recruit talented high school, community college, undergraduate and graduate students into natural resources management degree programs (environmental geology and forestry);

Retain students with a highly engaging and supportive learning environment; and,

Develop experiential learning for students through local internship and onsite field-trips with specialists from diverse natural resources management entities.
Activities

Internships with natural resources management agencies

On-campus lectures and seminars from natural resources management professionals

Research mentorship with natural resources management professionals

Field trips to sites of geologic, agricultural, or forestry importance and interest
Highlights

Stipends for participation in FRRRE-sponsored activities

One $50,000 scholarship to an Hispanic student majoring in environmental geology or forestry at New Mexico Highlands University
