New Mexico Highlands University School of Social Work is pleased to know that you are interested in
pursuing a graduate degree in social work. Our school has been accredited by the Council on Social
Work Education for over 25 years, making us the oldest accredited School of Social Work in New Mexico.
Our school prides itself as having a curriculum that specifically focuses on educating social workers to
work specifically with Hispanic and Native American populations of New Mexico and the southwest.
The graduate program offers four (4) distinct areas of concentration: Clinical Practice, Government
Non-Profit, MSW and Government Non-Profit MBA, and one of the newest programs, the Bilingual/
Bicultural Practice offered at the main campus in Las Vegas. Our School is the only social work
school to offer a concentration in Bilingual social work practice, focusing on working with Spanish
speaking clients.
Our school has graduated over 3000 students since its inception and continues to attract a highly educated,
motivated and committed student body who have a desire to help individuals, families, groups
and communities to improve their quality of life. Our alumni have gone on to serve as administrators,
researchers, community organizers, clinicians, elected officials, and a variety of other areas within the
social work profession.
