Institutional Effectiveness and Research

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research:

  • Serves to assist administration in meeting its institutional goals to monitor and promote institutional effectiveness and accountability. This will be done by providing assessment and performance data, as well as consultation, regarding program and educational outcome measures.
  • Serves to assist all members of the university community with assessment and program evaluation endeavors by providing on-line access to essential resources and data.

NMHU Ranked for Hispanic Enrollment

The May 7 issue of Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education presented its annual lists of top 100 colleges for Hispanics.

New Mexico Highlands University was listed among the Top 100 Colleges and Universities granting Master's Degrees to Hispanics. Additionally, it was ranked among the Top 100 4-Year Colleges according to total Hispanic enrollment.

Highlands is ranked 52 according to the total number of master's degrees awarded. Of the 282 Master's Degrees awarded in 2005-2006, a total of 124 were earned by Hispanic students. If viewed from a percentage perspective, Highlands, at 44%, would rank among the top 10.

In terms of overall Hispanic enrollment, Highlands is ranked 31, a jump of 51 spots from last year's rank of 82. NMHU's Hispanic enrollment was 699 students. Again, if viewed as a percentage, Highlands would rank among the top 10.
