School of Social Work

New Mexico Highlands University School of Social Work is the oldest school of social work in New Mexico, dating back to 1974. It is also one of the oldest schools accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) in the Southwest.

Although the School is primarily located at the Highlands campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico, we also have four off-campus statewide programs located throughout the state in:
Each social work program is situated in close proximity to one or more of the 19 Native American pueblos or among three tribes that are rich in cultural traditions.

Our program locations allow students the opportunity to experience and practice social work among Hispanic and Native American cultures, in either rural or urban settings. These two predominate cultures have maintained their language and cultural traditions for more than 500 years.

The school offers both BSW and MSW degree programs. These programs are offered at three of the five program locations. Our Roswell Center only offers the MSW degree program; while our Espanola campus, only offers the BSW degree program.
