2010 Phonathon
After three years of hard work, Devyn was worried she might not be able to finish college. A 4.0 student, a national champion on the HU rodeo team, a senior, Devyn had just found out that the scholarship funds that helped her get ahead at Highlands University were unexpectedly no longer available. Through the efforts of the NMHU Foundation, monies from the Foundation’s unrestricted accounts were found for Devyn to stay in school. This spring semester, through a matching grant from the NMHU Foundation, she was awarded a coveted Seabury scholarship, which allowed her to continue her work in media arts.
As a graduate of Highlands University, you know how important a helping hand is to a student. Donations not directed to a specific scholarship go to the Foundation’s unrestricted funds to help outstanding students such as Devyn. More than 90 percent of students who attend Highlands University are eligible for scholarships. The NMHU Foundation gives more than $200,000 each year in scholarships. Generous contributions from people like you are a lifeline and a gift to our students so that they can continue their education.
Just as importantly, donations are also used to support campus programs such as helping revive the campus pep and marching bands, establish a Professional Development Center in the School of Education to work for improving math and science skills for middle school students, as well as capital improvements such as remodeling the lobby of Ilfeld auditorium.
Celebrating our 25th anniversary, the NMHU Foundation has contributed more than, and funded more than $3.2 million in capital projects --- all due to generous donations from people like you.
Your gifts of $25, $50, $100 or more, to the NMHU Foundation will continue the tradition of support for NMHU, which has resulted in the direct support of students who are much like you were, and who will benefit from an education at Highlands University. Please think about how a Highlands education has helped you, and contribute to helping someone else.
