Media Arts Students Designing Projects Statewide Through Summer Internships  

New Mexico Highlands University media arts student interns are designing multi-media projects throughout New Mexico this summer for  museums,  other cultural institutions, and a national astronomy observatory. 

The paid summer internship program is a partnership between the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) and media arts.

High School Students Experience Hands-On Science Through Highlands Summer Immersion Program

Since 2007, high school students from Northeastern New Mexico have come to Highlands University for a free hands-on summer science immersion program aimed at increasing interest in science professions. This year the program runs June 7 – 18.

The learning is experiential with much of the time spent in fieldwork rather than classrooms.

The intensive two-week Science and Agriculture Summer Experience (SASE) program is funded through a United States Department of Agriculture - Hispanic Serving Institution grant Highlands University secured in 2007.

The architecture of India is rooted in its history, culture, and religion. Indian architecture progressed with time and assimilated the many influences that came as a result of India’s global discourse with other regions of the world throughout its millennia-old past. (June 15 - July 15)


Cineflix at Ilfeld


Ilfeld Auditorium presents recently released movies on the big screen. Now in high definition BluRay and surround sound! Cineflix in Ilfeld is a free-of-charge event open to both students and community members.

June 18th - "THE BOOK OF ELI" feature movie Rated R

June 20th - "MR. TROOP MOM" feature movie Rated G

June 23rd - "EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES" feature movie Rated PG

The student movie club will be selling Roasted Corn w/ choice of soda or water for $3 to help support "Cineflix in Ilfeld", Every Friday in June from 11 - 2pm in front of KEDP radio station (across the street from Ilfeld Auditorium)

Las Vegas Alumni Chapter Seeking New Board Members.  We’re looking for volunteers for the Las Vegas Chapter to serve on its board.  If interested, please contact Jim Mandarino at alumni@nmhu.edu.

Homecoming 2010 will be Oct. 1 & Oct 2. Start planning now. Game will be Saturday, October 2. We will be honoring the class of 1960 with an induction of alumni into the Golden Society.

We are looking for volunteers to be Class Agents for Homecoming events for October 1 & 2, 2010. Class agents will work with the Alumni office to provide activities for their class for Homecoming 2010 including making contacts with their peers to provide information and encourage participation. If you are willing to be a class agent contact Jim Mandarino at alumni@nmhu.edu.
