Highlands University Science Club Completes Charitable Delegation to Honduras
Members of the New Mexico Highlands University Science Club traveled to Honduras in May to work with charities that benefit children, the first trip of its kind for the club.
Most of the seven upper-division students had never traveled abroad, and many had never been outside New Mexico.
“Honduras is my country, and we’re one of the poorest in Central and South America,” said Melissa Taylor, 22, who spearheaded the science club’s planning for the trip. “I was very happy we could help the children of Honduras. I’d do it again in a heartbeat."

Highlands University Honors 14 at Retirement Reception June 16
“You represent almost 300 years of committed service to the university and that’s really phenomenal,” said Highlands University President Jim Fries at the reception. “It’s a privilege to represent the university community in saying thank you.
“Institutions don’t make things happen, people do. And it’s people who stay long enough to make a difference, like these retirees today. We will miss each and every one of you,” Fries said.

Homecoming 2010 will be Oct. 1 & Oct 2. Start planning now. Game will be Saturday, October 2. We will be honoring the class of 1960 with an induction of alumni into the Golden Society.
We are looking for volunteers to be Class Agents for Homecoming events for October 1 & 2, 2010. Class agents will work with the Alumni office to provide activities for their class for Homecoming 2010 including making contacts with their peers to provide information and encourage participation.
