Make your Homecoming plans now!

Homecoming 2010 will be Oct. 1 to Oct 2. Start planning now! Game will be Saturday, October 2. We will be honoring the class of 1960 with an induction of alumni into the Golden Society. Also, we are looking for volunteers to be Class Agents for Homecoming events. Class agents will work with the Alumni office to provide activities for their class for Homecoming 2010. If you are willing to be a class agent contact Jim Mandarino at alumni@nmhu.edu.


Media Arts Student Melissa Marquez Designs Key Elements for Alexander Girard Exhibit

New Mexico Highlands University media arts student Melissa Marquez designed five colorful panels and other key elements of the ‘Play it Louder’ Alexander Girard exhibit in the Governor’s Gallery at the New Mexico State Capitol.

Highlands Grad Returns for Middle Level Institute

José C’ de Baca graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in mathematics and a minor in physics.  Upon graduation he worked for Teaching Machines, Inc. where he helped produce self - paced instructional courses for IBM and other industry.  During his time at TMI he helped develop self-paced courses in other educational disciplines (reading, math, etc.) and tested them with middle and high school students.  TMI later contracted with the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) to help launch Job Corps by developing self – paced curriculum and systems management training.  TMI was eventually purchased by Westinghouse Learning Corporation.

Mr. C’ de Baca became the on-site liaison officer for WLC at the US Naval Academy where he led a team of analysts in the development of a Leadership Management Course funded by the US Department of Education.  Shortly after that stint, Mr. C’de Baca took a position with Independent Learning Systems in Northern California.  He helped manage the production of College Level self – paced courses marketed across the country to Colleges and Universities.  He helped develop an accredited private school – Independent Learning School where the entire curriculum was self-paced.

Currently, Mr. C’ de Baca directs a GEAR UP project overseeing 23 school districts in Northern New Mexico.  He'll be a presenter at the School of Education's Middle Level Institute, August 1-4, 2010.

You might have missed out on having one of the first 100 plates, but you can still show your Cowboy pride! Just visit the Motor Vehicle Department to pick up a plate. Only $37 of which $25 is returned to the university for faculty, staff and campus projects.
