BFA Graduates Sandoval and Wangseng Accepted into MFA Program
New Mexico Highlands University May BFA graduates Isaac Sandoval and Shawna Wangseng were accepted into an MFA program at Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kan.
Sandoval, a 22-year-old Las Vegas native, will major in sculpture in the MFA program with opportunities to explore other mediums.
“My main focus at Highlands was sculpture, but the BFA program is really interdisciplinary,” Sandoval said. “I was looking for an MFA program like that where I wouldn’t be trapped in just one medium. My art means everything to me. It’s the one thing I love to do, and I take it very seriously.
“At Highlands, the fine arts professors were so supportive and always pushed us to produce better work, not just throw out garbage and call it art. This MFA program gives me the chance to work on my art for the next three years to focus and refine it,” Sandoval said.
