students studyingNew Mexico Highlands University was first established as New Mexico Normal School, the institution became New Mexico Highlands University in 1941, as it expanded its role beyond teacher education. Today, NMHU offers graduate and undergraduate programs in arts and science, business, education and social work. Through distance education, internet courses, and on-site faculty, NMHU also offers some degree completion and graduate programs in Farmington, Rio Rancho, Espanola, Santa Fe, and Roswell. NMHU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Academic Advisors

Undergraduate students who have declared a major are advised by department chairs or designated faculty advisors. To contact your departmental advisor, call the departmental office and speak with the secretary who will assist you.

Student Identification Card Services

ID Card Policies - If you need an NMHU Student ID Card, come by the Felix Martinez Building Room 108, between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Note: Bring a photo ID for verification.
