Potter served three tours of active duty from 2009 – 2013 as an aviation boatswain’s mate during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. Potter is based at Highlands as the new veterans Upward Bound coordinator for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The local Vietnam Veterans of America #1063 Honor Guard posted the colors at the ceremony, and the Fort Union Living History group presented the arms. The local New Mexico Army National Guard 720th Unit also participated in the ceremony. Highlands vocal performance music major Daniel Torres sang the national anthem.
