HU Concert Choir Performs Opera in Ilfeld April 19

 The Highlands University Concert Choir performs famous opera choruses April 19 at 3 p.m., in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 905 University Ave.Andre Garcia-Nuthmann, the university’s Music Department program coordinator and choral director, will direct the concert choir. Lydia Madrick will accompany on piano.  The program will include favorites from Carmen, Die Fledermaus, Idomeneo, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Nabucco, Acis and Galatea, among others. Soloists include music students Stephanie Salas, Joseph Chavez, ElizaWoodyard, Karliz de Marco, music graduate Devin Barad, and Garcia-Nuthmann. The Music Department describes the music as a mixture of sweet, soulful, uplifting and lively songs. Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for university faculty and staff, senior citizens, and children under 10. The concert is free for all students with school ID.
