HU Concerts for Concert Band Dec. 5, Jazz Ensemble Dec. 10

The New Mexico Highlands University Concert Band will perform its winter concert Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. and the university’s Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

Both concerts will be in the university’s Sala de Madrid building at 801 University Ave.

The Dec. 5 Concert Band concert will also feature the Highlands University Faculty Brass Quintet. The university’s Marching Color Guard will perform along with the Twirlers and Tiny Twirlers.

Selections include works based on Shaker hymns, and music to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas.

The Dec. 10 Jazz Ensemble concert also features the Highlands University Faculty Combo. Guest soloists include Steve Leger, Sarah Oliver, Lee Norman Gonzales, and Jose Munos.

Selections include ‘Body and Soul,’ with guest vocalist Sarah Oliver, the new choral director at West Las Vegas High School.

General admission for both concerts is $5, and students with ID are free
