I want to cast the lovespoon as a symbol of my Welsh heritage and I have named it Cwtch as this is one of my favourite words in Welsh.
Cwtch is a loving word meaning to hug a loved one, it is only ever used to express close affection and so is a well loved word.

BALLOON.

I am currently working on pieces that challenge pre conceived ideas about common objects. We naturally try to understand information we are presented with quickly as possible. We rely on past experiences of the objects and easily available information we obtain from viewing the object such as scale, form and content.
By changing basic qualities we see it differently.
By casting a balloon in iron we re- define it, its no longer light. It being heavier than expected forces us to look at it more closely and hopefully this will encourage people to take the time to look at other objects more closely.
