Archetypes, and processes, both narrative and symbolic are subject to my own interpretation and context, and are used as an initial catalyst to perpetuate these relationships. What we think we know becomes a bridge to the familiar, the way in. Using the sensuous appeal of surfaces, colors and objects to hint at what is desirable, the work also reveals a certain awkwardness, a self-conscious awareness of discomfort, uncertainty, longing, desire, disillusionment, and possibly confusion. These objects should be relentless, yet so very quiet, even timid. The work acts as a type of reflecting pool, and in essence a filtering system, allowing ideas to pass through for contemplation while isolating or leading one to consider the circumstances presented within each experience. |
