Jungle Book Performed by State Street Ballet at Ilfeld Nov. 9

The State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, Calif., will perform the Jungle Book ballet Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in New Mexico Highlands University’s Ilfeld Auditorium.

The historic auditorium is at 900 University Ave.

The State Street Ballet is an acclaimed ballet company with a stellar cast of dancers that tours throughout the United States as well as internationally.

The company is known for its innovative choreography and unique style.

State Street Ballet’s full-length original production of Jungle Book has earned rave reviews. The Santa Barbara News-Press calls it “a stunning visual treat.”

Rodney Gustafson, artistic director for State Street Ballet, says, “Audiences love how this story is brought to life, incorporating incredible dance, costumes, and music.”

The Jungle Book is a timeless classic inspired by the 1894 collection of stories written by British laureate Rudyard Kipling. It is set in a tropical jungle in India and tells the adventure story of the boy Mowgli, who is raised by a friendly wolf pack.

This is not the first State Street Ballet production presented in Ilfeld. The ballet company delighted a sold-out audience last December when it performed the Nutcracker.

Tickets for the Jungle Book are $10 for general admission; $5 for children 12 and younger, and Highlands University students with IDs; and $8 for Highlands University faculty and staff, and other students with IDs.

Advance tickets are on sale at the Highlands University radio station, KEDP 91.1 FM, 901 University Ave., studio 103. Or call 505-454-3238.
