University Archives    
  Archives are the permanently valuable non-current records of the university. They are preserved because they provide a historical, administrative, legal, and financial record of non-current material that has continuing value to the institution.  
    Finding Aids by Record Groups
     
Special Collections:  The High Plains and New Mexico    
  This collection emphasizes material encompassing the environment, history, culture, and peoples of the high plains of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas (e.g. eastern Colorado, western Kansas, the Oklahoma Panhandle, the Texas Panhandle, and western Texas), as well as the state of New Mexico and Las Vegas.  
    The Santa Fe Trail — an important commercial and cultural link between New Mexico and Missouri, from 1821 to 1879, is documented in a collection on local, state and Southwestern history.
     
     Arrott Collection — Strong collection on local, state and southwestern history
     
    Fort Union — An historically valuable collection consisting of correspondence to and from the commanding officers of the Fort, reports and medical and military documents. This may be used as an historical reference in studies of New Mexico history, history of the Santa Fe Trail, Civil War and Indian history. Fort Union was occupied from 1851 through 1890.

    CCHP Photographs — Historical photographs of the surrounding area, this collection was acquired from the Citizens Committee for Historical Preservation and is located in Special Collections.

    Plains and the Rockies — Microfiche. A collection of 437 volumes of books and documents written from 1800-1865. Includes rare documents on the economic, cultural and political history of the American West and Southwest.
     
    New Mexico Land Grants — Microfilm, 62 reels. Full collection of land grants housed in the Bureau of Land Management of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Helpful for information on the history of land grants, Pueblo land grant policy and water adjudication.
     
    Las Vegas Land Grant Records -- Microfilm, 13 reels. Records from the Las Vegas Land Grant Board beginning in 1902.
          Alphabetical Index -- Index by Reel Number
     
 Rare Books Collection    
  This collection contains books printed 100 years ago or more, all books printed before 1600, limited or first editions, out of print material of consequence, autographed copies when by important or local authors, and other criteria as defined by the collections policies.
