Mishler To Give Talk about Tecolote Pueblo


New Mexico Highlands University anthropology professor emeritus Robert Mishler will give a free talk, “A.D. 1,200, Village Life in Northern New Mexico: Tecolote Pueblo,” Sept. 18 at 7 p.m., at the CCHP/Santa Fe Interpretive Center, 116 Bridge St., Las Vegas.The talk is part of the National Park Service and Fort Union National Monument’s monthly Glimpses of the Past program.  The Las Vegas Citizens’ Committee for Historic Preservation also sponsors the program.The Tecolote Pueblo along the Tecolote River was one of the largest pueblo communities east of the Rio Grande River. It was occupied from about A.D. 1000 to A.D. 1325. The site was first excavated in 1929. Over the years, Highlands University anthropology faculty and students have investigated the site.
