HU Singers Present Les Misérables: A Review Dec. 1, 3

Las Vegas, N.M. – The New Mexico Highlands University HU Singers will perform Les Misérables: A Review on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.
Les Misérablesis one of the most popular and top-performing musicals in history. It is based on the acclaimed 1862 novel of the same name by Victor Hugo, a French author, playwright and poet. The plot follows the trials and tribulations of the characters during the French Revolution.
Andre Garcia-Nuthmann, director of Highlands University’s choral program, will direct the performance and is the piano accompanist.
Music students who are vocal soloists include Autumn Woods, alto, as Fantine; Joseph Rivera, tenor, as Valjean, Janika Jaramillo, soprano, as child Cosette; Nicole Robinson, soprano music graduate, as adult Cosette; T.J. Harris, baritone, as Marius; Karliz de Marco, soprano, as Eponine; Brandon Romero, baritone, as Javert; Jacob Dekins, baritone, as master/monsieur; Lisa Cisneros, alto, as madame; and McKenna Sandoval, soprano, as woman.
The chorus includes the 10 soloists and 13 other music students.
The Les Misérables performances benefit the Highlands University choirs as well as a future joint concert with the Santa Fe Symphony in Ilfeld.
All tickets are $5. Highlands University students with valid IDs are free.
