Las Vegas Music Students Featured in Band Fest
Las Vegas - Music students from both Las Vegas school districts, United World College and New Mexico Highlands will share a common stage March 5 for Band Fest 2013.
The 6:30 p.m. performance in Highlands’ Ilfeld Auditorium will feature individual performances by individual bands and one combined performance.
“This is the first time in recent memory that so many of our area’s students will be playing together,” said Edward Harrington, the director of bands for Highlands University. “The range of students will be from middle school to graduating college seniors.”
Harrington said the audience will be impressed with the level of musicianship from Las Vegas’ students, especially this time of year when several bands have been practicing for larger regional festivals.
“They’re really at the top of their game,” Harrington said. “The music will include popular band music, movie themes and jazz.”
The $5 ticket price will go to help the schools’ music programs.
