New Mexico Highlands’ Mariachi Vaqueros de la Sierra, under the direction of James K. Leger, will present its annual winter concert at 2 p.m., Dec. 9, in the university’s Ilfeld Auditorium. The program will feature songs from the standard mariachi repertoire, as well as seasonal selections, including Christmas songs from the mariachi tradition popularized by Mexican superstars Lola Beltran, José Alfredo Jimenez, and Javier Solis, and traditional English-language Christmas songs presented in mariachi-styled arrangements.Ticket prices are $8 general admission and $5 for senior citizens. Children under 10, students with I.D.s, and NMHU faculty and staff are admitted free.
