Poet Dana Gilmore Performs at Ilfeld March 31

New Mexico Highlands University presents nationally-known poet Dana Gilmore in a performance March 31 at 7 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.
 

Gilmore tours college campuses nationwide to perform her poetry, which is hailed as both invigorating and cathartic.
 

Gilmore received a standing ovation when she performed on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, where she debuted her critically-acclaimed poem, ‘Wife, Women, Friend.’  

The HBO television series presents performances by established spoken word poets as well as up-and-coming poets. Gilmore performed on Def Poetry Jam during its third and fourth season.

Gilmore has won several showcase awards from the National Association for Campus Activities and the Association for Promotion of Campus Activities. She is considered one of the most popular poets in the college market.
 

The Highlands University’s Office of Campus life is sponsoring Dana Gilmore’s March 31 performance.
 

Tickets are $2 for general admission. Admission is free for Highlands University students, faculty and staff with IDs.
