Las Vegas, N.M. – Highlands University President Sam Minner invites the community to a roundtable April 18 about the value of a college degree.

The roundtable discussion will be from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom, 800 National Ave. Light refreshments will be served.

“The return on investment related to a university education is hotly debated these days and it is important that citizens from all walks of life familiarize themselves with the relevant issues and facts,” Minner said. “Participation in this roundtable is a good way to do that.”

Minner said that for years the notion that college attendance is a good value and predictor of life success went virtually uncontested, and was assumed to be true.

“Today, many are questioning that judgment. It is my hope that conversation at the roundtable will illuminate the issues and help everyone understand them more clearly,” Minner said.

He said the roundtable is for the Las Vegas and campus community, educators and elected officials.

“I hope you will join us in discussing this very important topic,” Minner said.

Questions about the April 18 roundtable may be directed to Diana Marrs, Center for Teaching Excellence director, at dmarrs@nmhu.edu .
