Third annual Highlands Loves Alumni Event Feb. 10

Dr. Edward Harrington plays bass

Highlands music professor Edward Harrington performs with the Smooth Riders during last year’s Highlands Loves Alumni event.

Las Vegas, NM – Valentine’s Romance – with a cause – will be in the air Feb. 10 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the third annual Highlands Loves Alumni event Feb. 10 in the university’s Student Center Ballroom.

Proceeds from the free event help fund Highlands scholarships, recruitment activities and help promote a stronger connection between the university’s students and alumni.

“It will be an elegantly fun evening,” said Highlands Director of Alumni Affairs, Juli Salman. “The Smooth Riders jazz ensemble will be playing a selection of favorites; Isaac Sandoval from the Skillet restaurant will prepare delicious hors d’oeuvres on site; Borrachos will serve specially themed cocktails to everyone of legal age. And then there’s always something decadent from the chocolate dessert bar.”

A silent auction featuring artwork, jewelry, gift baskets, tickets to Disneyland, a custom mixology class and more will provide many opportunities for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

“This is a very special event for Highlands, and I’m looking forward to seeing our alumni and friends,” said Highlands President Sam Minner. “This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the best.”

Previous Highlands Loves Alumni events helped raise funds to replace the university’s football field and to support high-impact educational practices at the university.

“Dr. Minner will make a special announcement during the event, which no one will want to miss,” Salman said.
