APPLYING FOR THE MBA PROGRAM
Information on the MBA program is available from the Office of Graduate Studies, Department of Business Administration in Sininger Hall or the Highlands website: www.nmhu.edu.
I. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION:
- Students must have at least 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work; however, performance in major courses and the last 60 hours of credit may be given strong consideration.
- Students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business will be considered based on the total undergraduate record. Specific courses will be required to prepare the student for the graduate program, and will be assigned after reviewing the transcripts.
- All students must have computer proficiency and be able to use basic tools of business such as word processing, spreadsheets.
- Students will be admitted to the MBA program in:
- Regular Status: is assigned to students who meet all the requirements for admission to the graduate program.
- Provisional Status: Students who lack the requirements for regular admission will be admitted provisionally. The letter of admission will specify the requirements that must be met before a student can be placed in regular status.
- Advance Standing: Students who are within 12 semester credits of receiving their bachelor’s degree may apply for, and be admitted to the MBA program.
II. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- Application form.
- Statement of educational goals and objectives. We require a statement from you that is personal and well written. Plagiarized statements will result in the application being denied.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Unofficial copies can be used for evaluation purposes only.
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation.
- A one-time, nonrefundable application fee of $15.
- International students applying to the MBA program will need the following additional documents:
- Official school transcripts translated into English with U.S. grade equivalencies. If a student intends to submit a higher education degree from a country other than the United States, it must be translated into English and submitted along with the official documentation.
- TOEFL scores to demonstrate English proficiency.
- A letter of support by the proposed sponsor affirming willingness to provide financial support for the period of student’s graduate study at Highlands University.
- Original bank statements to demonstrate available funds for one year’s tuition and living expenses. Bank statements should include type of account and the specified amount in U.S. dollars. Documentation must be presented on the financial institution’s letterhead, with seal and/or stamps and appropriate signatures.
- Medical Insurance
Note: All documentation requested must be in English. Documents in other languages must be subitted with an official English translation.
III. APPLICATION DEADLINE:

- November 15 for spring semester
- March 31 for summer semester
- International students are encouraged to apply at least 3 months prior to the start of each semester.
