Faculty & Staff
Current employees are encouraged to apply for a username and password.  This will give access to Faculty/Staff Email, Self-Service Banner, campus computers and Blackboard.

Click here to apply for a username.  Your account will be created pending approval from the Human Resources department.  It takes at least 24 hours to create an account.

Note: Adjunct Faculty accounts expire at the end of every semester.  If you have an adjunct faculty account, please let ITS know before the end of the semester if you will continue to need your account.

Password Help
If this is your first time logging in with your username and password, your temporary password is your date-of-birth in the format MonDDYYYY.  For example, February 23, 1954 would be Feb231954.  You must change your password before you can log in.  Click here to change password.

Employee passwords expire every 180 days.  Employees must change their password before it expires.  If your password has already expired or if you have forgotten your password, call 505-426-2215 to have it reset.

Password requirements:

  • Must be at least eight characters in length
  • Must contain at least one uppercase letter (A through Z)
  • Must contain at least one lowercase letter (a through z)
  • Must contain at least one number
  • Must not contain any part of the your name or username
  • You cannot reuse your last 5 passwords.

Special symbols are discouraged because some cause problems with Banner. See password policy for more details.

Logging In

You can use your username and password to log into the following:
Campus Computers (Main Campus, Rio Rancho, Albuquerque)  “Log On To” Domain is HU_ADM.

Blackboard (if teaching or taking a Blackboard course)

Current Students
Students are assigned a username and temporary password once the student has been accepted to Highlands. This gives access to Self-Service Banner, student email, Brightspace, and campus computers (Main Campus, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and Albuquerque).

Former Students & Employees
Former students and former employees that no longer have a username and password and need access to Banner for transcripts, check stubs, etc., will need to log in using their Banner ID and PIN.  Click here to go to lookup your Banner ID.

Click here to log in with your Banner ID and PIN.

If you have forgotten your PIN and need to reset it, enter your Banner ID at the login page, and click on “Forgot PIN?”  You will be prompted to enter the answer to your security question.
