NMHU Counseling Program

Annual Report

Fall 2018

Data for annual reports on graduates was retrieved from several sources. Enrollment numbers and the number of graduates/completers was supplied by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (OIER). Completion rates were calculated using the standard NMHU 5-year time-frame for completion of a graduate degree. The students enrolled five years previous to the reporting period were compared to those who had graduated by the reporting period.

Pass rates on licensure exams was measured as numbers of graduates who had obtained licensure. Licensure was accessed through the New Mexico Licensing Boards, clinical and education. Licensure for out-of-state graduates was unavailable. Since the NCE cannot be taken until after a student has completed their program, data is inconsistent. Only completers who chose to take the exam and become licensed in NM are reported. Students are not required to take the CRC, and currently, there is no State exam for the New Mexico Public Education Department – Rehabilitation Counseling PK-12 license. The Counseling Program has only recently requested that students have their NCE scores sent to NMHU.

Graduate Assistants from the Counseling Department contacted the 167 graduates from Fall 2015 thru Summer 2018 (3 year period). Of that 167, information was collected from 114 graduates (68%). An analysis of the 114 responses revealed an 89% employment rate with one individual employed in a non- counseling position.
