Las Vegas, N.M – New Mexico Highlands University presents a theatrical production of “A Christmas Carol” Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium at 900 University Ave.
PerSeverance Productions of New Hampshire is in its sixth national tour presenting “A Christmas Carol.” Scott Severance is the executive artistic director.
“This production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ will get people in the holiday spirit,” said Donna Martínez, Ilfeld Auditorium manager. “Come join us for a festive family-friendly production that will leave you feeling the joy of Christmas.”
Theater reviewer Mike Dunham of the “Anchorage Daily News” wrote, “PerSeverance Productions has mounted a fine stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ with a gorgeous set, ambitious sound effects, and excellent acting from the principal players.”
Charles Dickens’ 1843 novella “A Christmas Carol” is regarded as a holiday classic for the ages. Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character, a miserly London banker who receives an unearthly visit from his deceased business partner Jacob Marley, followed by apparitions from the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, who show Scrooge the many errors of his ways. “A Christmas Carol” has been adapted many times for film, stage, opera and other productions.
General admission tickets are $15. Tickets for Highlands faculty, staff, seniors and local students with valid IDs are all $12 while admission for children 10 and younger is $10. The production is free for Highlands University students with valid ID.
Beginning Nov. 25, advance tickets may be purchased at the university’s KEDP radio station, Studio 103, 901 University Ave., Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. Call 505-454-3238 for more information.
