Transfer students

Grow personally and professionally in a supportive environment

Are you looking for a school where your voice matters? One that values your unique contributions as an individual?

Look no further than Highlands University.

Now, perhaps you were drawn to a specific program we offer, like forestry or social work.

Or our renowned professors.

Or maybe you’re looking for a school that better fits your budget.

While these are all valid reasons to attend, we also offer something that’s more difficult to describe, yet when you experience it for yourself, there’s no denying it.

At Highlands, you are family.

Here you get the best of both worlds—an incredibly diverse environment that is home to students from 42 states, 19 tribes, and 35 countries, but with the authenticity and connectedness of a small community.

Imagine a place where your professors care about your “academic, social, and emotional well-being,” in the words of transfer student and psychology major Angelica Aragon.

Or as Brett, a student in BBA Management puts it, “Transferring to New Mexico Highlands gave me a clean slate, not just academically but socially, too. I have been given a chance to change and grow in the classroom and on the field, to serve as a leader and a diligent student…Becoming a part of the Highlands legacy has had a huge impact on my life.”

At Highlands, our professors and staff serve as your mentors, providing you with the resources and opportunities to achieve your personal and professional goals.

We also recognize that you may be balancing school with other obligations such as a job or a family, so we offer flexible scheduling and a range of locations (including an option for online learning).

No-hassle transfer and scholarship registration

The transfer process and accompanying paperwork can be frustrating at times, but we will work with you to make this process as smooth as possible.

For instance, we have a Guaranteed Transfer Agreement with our community college partners. Rest assured knowing that your credits will transfer over, so you do not need to waste your time and money retaking the same classes.

Plus, when you complete your application, you’re automatically considered for scholarships.

You’ll be happy to discover that between the wealth of scholarships and grants we offer as well as opportunities for on-campus jobs (60 – 70% of students are employed on campus), most of our students graduate with little to no debt.

Acquire real-world skills

Best of all, you’ll gain actionable skills that translate to career success. We pride ourselves on emphasizing hands-on learning over rote memorization of facts that have little application in the real world.

The majority of Highlands alumni go on to pursue a graduate degree or obtain a job in their field of study soon after graduation. In fact, the non profit Educate to Career rated Highlands number one among New Mexico colleges for career outcomes, looking at such factors as percentage of graduates employed in careers related to their major, salaries earned by recent graduates, and percentage of graduates employed within one year of graduation.

Are you ready to make a change that will transform your life? Apply here.
