Forestry professor Blanca Cespedes also presented the experiment. More than 130 local 5th grade girls participated in the event that featured other women science faculty at Highlands such as Sarah Corey-Rivas, biology, and Jessica Johnsen, computer science, as well as local professionals. The Las Vegas Chapter of the American Association of University Women sponsored Girls Can to generate early interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as well as other professions.
