Las Vegas, N.M. – New Mexico Highlands University music professor and tenor vocalist Andre García-Nuthmann will be a featured soloist in the “Mad About Love” concert and dessert Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel Ballroom.
Also starring in the concert is VanAnn Moore, a Belen, New Mexico soprano vocalist who has performed globally as a singer and actress. Her concert tours include the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Japan.
“This concert is a selection of love songs both romantic and comic,” García-Nuthmann said. “The majority of the love songs come from musical theater like ‘Phantom of the Opera,’ ‘Showboat,’ ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ and ‘South Pacific.’ The audience is in for a fun night of entertainment.”
García-Nuthmann and Moore have collaborated for nearly 30 years in duo musical productions.
“VanAnn Moore is an accomplished performer of musical theater. She has a very beautiful, versatile and highly trained voice and can sing classical, jazz, blues and musical theater with ease,” García-Nuthmann said.
García-Nuthmann directs the vocal and choral program in the Highlands department of music. He is a longtime member of the New Mexico Bach Society Chorale, which is part of the New Mexico Performing Arts Society. He has performed three times as a vocal soloist at the world-renowned Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria.
García-Nuthmann and Moore will sing numerous duets for the conference.
Edwin Aybar, a Highlands University music professor, is the piano accompanist for the concert. Joe Cooney, a bass vocalist from Las Vegas, is a guest artist for the concert. Don Evans, a theater faculty member at Highlands, designed the sets and props for the concert.

General admission advance tickets are $20 per person and $35 per couple and are available through the Highlands University Department of Music by calling 505-454-3359. Tickets are also available at the door.
The Historic Plaza Hotel is located on the Historic Las Vegas Plaza in Las Vegas.
