Comedian Gary Owen to Perform in Ilfeld April 15

 New Mexico Highlands University presents acclaimed stand-up comedian Gary Owen April 15 at 7 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.
 
The Highlands University’s Office of Campus life is sponsoring Owen’s performance.
Campus Life Director Margaret Gonzales said Owen performed on campus during Homecoming 2010 and was very popular. She added that Owen’s comedy contains adult language and is not suitable for young children.
 
Owen tours nationally and plays a role in the TBS hit comedy, House of Payne. He has also appeared in  several comedy films, including Daddy Day Care, starring Eddie Murphy.
 
Owen has recorded three DVDs of his stand-up comedy, including Breakin’ Out the Park, Live from Tampa, and Urban Legend.  
 
He is the only white person to host, ComicView, a stand-up comedy show that airs on Black Entertainment Television.
 
Owen got his start in stand-up comedy while serving in the U.S. Navy as a military police officer. After just one year honing his stand-up act in nightclubs, he was named “Funniest Serviceman in America.”
 
He calls comedy his true calling and pursues this career full time.
 
Tickets are $5 for general admission. Admission is free for Highlands University students with ID. Faculty and staff tickets are $2.
