Las Vegas, N.M. — New Mexico Highlands University presents rising country music star Matt Mason in concert Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.

In 2011, Country Music Television honored Mason as the ‘Next Superstar’ in country music. The acclaimed singer-songwriter’s national visibility and fan base soared when he toured the country with CMT.

Also in 2011, the prestigious record label Warner Music Nashville signed Mason, who performed at the label’s event in his honor.

Nashville Music Newswrote, “Mason proved why he is a frontrunner on CMT at the event, entertaining with a riveting acoustic performance.”

Mason’s albums include Chasing Stardust, America’s Favorite Pastime, and Where I’ve Been.

Local singer and guitarist Sarah Lewis is the opening act for Mason. The West Last Vegas High School senior gained the billing after winning the Young Country Singer Competition Jan. 26 in Ilfeld Auditorium.

Tickets for the Matt Mason concert are $20 for reserved seats, $15 for general admission, and $10 for children and students with valid IDs.
