There is a major public event taking place at the ARMAS Center on Highlands Campus Friday, September 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The residents of Las Vegas will want to know that Joseph Mangano of the Radiation and Public Health Project and Tina Cordova of the Downwinder’s Project have found evidence that New Mexicans were indeed dangerously exposed to high levels of radiation after the Trinity Test, as well as future Nevada shots.
These scientist-activists will explain the environmental hazards of the above-ground nuclear weapons tests that took place between 1945 and 1963. Anyone from the community is able to attend. Food will be available.
