A Tragedy in Five Acts, we use an absurdist fabulation of Amerigo Vespucci’s travels to the New World as a conceit to sustain our tribute to Jimi’s Woodstock Star Spangled Banner.
The 12-Bar Blues based ambient textures are designed less as performance and more as background sonic atmosphere. We work through a repetitious mash-up of a basic 12-Bar shuffle, Mississippi Fred McDowell’s You Gotta Move and Elmore James’s Dust My Broom, a simple D Major scale, and of course Francis Scott Key’s Star Spangled Banner. It is rooted in the relentlessly rhythmic pulse of R.L. Burnside’s Hill Country Blues and of the Rajasthani Cobra Gypsies, and in the slow aural meanderings of Brian Eno.
