Highlands University student Krystol Myers of Jamaica performs March 29 in the Student Union Building as part of Culture Fest 2016. Myers, a junior psychology major, choreographed the dance piece “Jafrican,” a blend of Jamaican and African dance. Fellow Jamaican students Christina Mbadie and Janneal Pennant performed with Myers. The weeklong Culture Fest March 28 – April 1 celebrated the rich diversity of global cultures through music, food, films, theater and dance. Housing and Student Conduct director Yvette Wilkes spearheaded the event in collaboration with the International Education Center, HU-CARES, the Native American, Services Office, HU-CARES and Ilfeld Auditorium. Wilkes said the goal is to make this first Culture Fest at Highlands an annual event. Southwest Capital Bank was the corporate sponsor.
