Highlands Golf Pro to Play in 2019 Challenge Cup

Las Vegas, N.M. – Justin Aragón, head golf professional at the New Mexico Highlands Gene Torres Golf Course, will play in the 2019 Challenge Cup Aug. 4.

Billed as Sun Country Golf House’s version of the Ryder Cup, the 2019 Challenge Cup will take place at the Paradise Hills Golf Club in Albuquerque. Aragón will play on the Sun Country PGA professional team.

“This is an outstanding opportunity to play with the top 16 professional golfers in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas,” Aragón said. “This gives me a chance to spotlight the name of the Gene Torres Golf Course to the public.”

Aragón, a Las Vegas native, is the only professional golfer from Northern New Mexico playing in the tournament.

For information about golfing at the Gene Torres Golf Course, call 505-425-7711. Aragón said the rates range from $18 for nine holes to $48 for 18 holes with a cart. There is a special “super twilight” rate beginning at 5 p.m. that is $15 per person and includes a cart.

Aragón also gives one-hour golf lessons that include $35 for juniors under 18 and $50 for adults. Call 505-425-7711 to schedule a lesson.

“We’re lucky to have a good golf facility in our Las Vegas community,” Aragón said. “I encourage people to check it out. Golf is a great game for all ages.”
