IVAN HILTON BUILDING UPDATES

A spirited group of Highlands University students from the rodeo team, student ambassador program, and student senate won first place in the cowboy float category at the Santa Fe Fiestas Parade Sept. 7. The recruitment office at Highlands coordinated the Cowboy float in both the Santa Fe Fiestas Parade and the State Fair Parade Sept. 6 in Albuquerque.”The students did a great job and it was wonderful that 25 participated,” said Jenny Arguello, recruiting staffer and student ambassador adviser. “It was so much fun to see the big crowds at both parades and have people react to our float. When we were passing one group of alums in Santa Fe, some little old ladies got up and sang the Highlands fight song.” Arguello said both parades were an opportunity to raise awareness about Highlands and show the university’s spirit. Recruitment will organize floats again next year for these Santa Fe and Albuquerque parades as well as several local parades.
