Las Vegas, NM – The New Mexico Highlands Department of Music presents a free vocal master class with two world-renowned vocalists on Feb. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Plaza Hotel Ballroom on the historic Las Vegas Plaza.
The vocalists teaching the class are soprano Cynthia Lawrence, a Pavarotti Competition winner who has performed worldwide with Luciano Pavarotti, and Mark Calkins, a prominent tenor in opera and musical theater in the United States and globally.
“These are high-caliber musicians who also love working with students and other amateur vocalists,” said Andre García-Nuthmann, who directs the vocal programs at Highlands in the Department of Music. “They are gracious about sharing their talents and gifts.”
García-Nuthmann says that while the class will be an inspirational opportunity for participating vocalists, the event is also for the public.
“In addition, this vocal master class is for observers,” García-Nuthmann says. “At the end of the teaching portion, Cynthia Lawrence and Mark Calkins will give a short performance.”
