About:
Dr. Andrés Mauricio Sabogal was born and raised in Valle del Cauca, Colombia, obtained his B.A. in Spanish at Sonoma State University in California, his M.A. in Latin American Studies and his Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of New Mexico. Besides teaching Spanish and linguistics courses, he supports the learning of Spanish, American Sign Language, and other languages at the Language Learning Center. His research focuses on the documentation of Wayuunaiki in La Guajira, Colombia, and Tewa in New Mexico, USA, as well as on linguistic reconstruction based on lexical and grammatical comparison of Wayuunaiki with other Arawakan languages of South America, and Tewa with other Tanoan languages of New Mexico.
