Las Vegas, N.M – The Lightwire Theater performs Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Highlands University’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.

Moon Mouse is a theatrical production for children and adults that tells the story of Marvin the Mouse and his adventures flying to the moon. Forty luminous characters operated by five performers bring the show to life.

“Our hope is to inspire a new generation to come to Moon Mouse and experience this eye popping, lesson filled, and exciting journey into space,” said Ian Carney, artistic director. “The production combines our company’s love of both theater and technology. Special effects energize the performance.”

Carney said one of the main messages of Moon Mouse is that being different is cool.

The musical score includes a wide variety of styles from pop and classical to original selections composed for Moon Mouse. Some highlights include Elton John’s Rocket Man and David Bowie’s Space Oddity.

“We aim to engage every age group musically,” Carney said.

General admission tickets are $10. Children under 10 and Highlands students with valid HU IDs are $5. Highlands faculty, staff and other students are $8.

Advance tickets are available at the university’s KEDP radio station ticket office, Studio 103, 901 University Ave., 10 – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. Or call 505-454-3238.
