New Mexico Highlands University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Geri Glover as the Interim Dean of the School of Education. Dr. Glover brings over 16 years of dedicated service to the School of Education and over two decades of expertise in mental health, play therapy, and diversity training.
Dr. Glover currently serves as an associate professor and chair of the Counseling Department at NMHU. She is a licensed clinical mental health counselor, registered play therapist–supervisor, and a licensed school counselor.
“I am honored to be selected to serve as Interim Dean during this pivotal time for the School of Education,” Dr. Glover said. “Having been part of this university for 16 years, I am committed to leveraging my experience and understanding, and I look forward to working with our talented faculty, staff, and students as we navigate this transition and search for a permanent dean.”

Dr. Glover’s research and training focus on play therapy, a passion she has pursued through her extensive work, research, and advocacy. She served on the national board of the Association for Play Therapy for six years and has been a dedicated member of the New Mexico Association for Play Therapy for fourteen years.
A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Dr. Glover earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education in 1987. She obtained her Master’s in School Counseling from Appalachian State University in 1990 and completed her PhD in Counselor Education from the University of North Texas in 1996.
