Dr. Minner lauds work by staff, faculty, administrators, and regents as key for the effort

June 30, 2023

New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) received a Reaffirmation of Accreditation letter from the Higher Learning Commision (HLC) Board of Trustees on Monday, June 26, 2023. This letter reaffirmed the HLC’s accreditation of the institution through the 2027-28 review period. NMHU will host a Focused Visit to review its assessment of learning and new human resources processes no later than fall 2025. This action is effective as of the date the Board acted, June 22, 2023.

The HLC is an institutional accreditor that accredits degree-granting, post-secondary educational institutions in the United States. Accreditation is a formal stamp of approval that indicates an institution is on track in executing its mission and that students and other stakeholders can be certain that best practices are employed.

NMHU President Dr. Sam Minner said: “I am so pleased that our external accreditor has recognized our improvements over time. After more than a decade, we are adding students in year-to-year comparisons, we are exceeding our retention goals, our fiscal house is in order, and we are adding new programs and new faculty. These outcomes are the result of the efforts of dedicated staff, faculty, administrators, and board members.”
