The biannual New Mexico Highlands Student Art Show will be on display in the university’s Burris Hall gallery through May 1. “New Mexico Highlands has a long tradition in the arts,” said art professor David Lobdell. “We have a good crop of students in this show — they’re interesting people, and they make interesting work.”The top picks in this semester’s student art show will be determined by popular vote by gallery visitors. The winners in each category, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry, as well as the best-in-show category will be announced between 5-7 p.m. April 30 during the exhibition’s closing reception. “We’re all excited,” said art student McKaila Dorman. “There’s some really strong work in this semester’s show.” The Burris Hall gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
