Highlands alumni Anna Arko and Mike Pabst, back left and right, met the Highlands University students who were awarded $500 scholarships in the couple’s name Oct. 21 at the university’s Foundation Office. Standing with Arko and Pabst is Jalen Martínez, center, a general science education senior from Las Vegas, New Mexico. Seated are Deja Marquez Wells, left, an elementary education freshman from Española, New Mexico, and Elena Chavez, a vocal performance junior from Las Vegas. Martínez and Chavez have earned the renewable Anna Arko and Mike Pabst Endowed Scholarship every year since they were freshman at Highlands for their strong academic performance. Arko and Pabst graduated from Highlands in 1969 with elementary education degrees. The Roswell couple has been married for 49 years.
