General Session Questions

What should I expect to happen during my session?
During your session, you and your tutor will work to accomplish writing goals. Writing Center tutors are available to assist students with all phases of the writing process, including generating ideas, drafting, revising, and editing.  Tutors can offer suggestions for improving content, organization, sentence structure, formatting, citations, and grammar.

How long will my session last?
Sessions requiring a Writing Center slip are scheduled for 30 minutes.  Students can choose other scheduled sessions of 30 or 50 minutes.

How do I let my instructor know I went to the Writing Center?
When you arrive at the Writing Center, sign into our log-in book.  This makes a record of your attendance.  At the end of the session, your tutor will fill out a slip documenting your session.  This slip will be marked with the official Writing Center stamp.

Where is the Writing Center located?
The Writing Center is located on the first floor of Douglas Hall, Room 115E.

What types of resources are available in the Writing Center?
Before, during, and after your tutoring session, you may make use of our computer lab.  We also have a library of source material on reading, writing, study skills, research papers, and documentation.
