Winterfest 2009 at Highlands University brings the band War center stage Sat., Feb. 14, 7:30 p.m. at Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.”War is one of the most popular funk groups of the 70s and also one of the most eclectic,” said Donna Martinez, manager for Ilfeld auditorium and Highlands’ campus radio station, KEDP 91.1 FM. “This legendary group brings together soul, Latin, jazz, blues, reggae and rock influences.”War was nominated for induction into the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2008, the band released “War – Greatest Hits Live,” its first release in 14 years. Martinez said that Valentine’s Day sweetheart packages are available for dinner, premier concert tickets, and lodging in historic Las Vegas.
